Apple sets up its own internal production studio and plans first in-house series

According to Variety, Apple has set up its own internal production studio called “Masters” and will produce its first in-house series dubbed Masters of the Air.

The limited series is a follow-up to Band of Brothers (pictured) and The Pacific series that were executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. That duo is on board again, “which comes as no surprise given that Spielberg was a prominent figure at the Apple TV Plus launch event in March,” according to Variety.

Masters of the Air is based on the book by Donald L. Miller and follows the story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep. It will air exclusively on Apple TV+. Apple’s Masters production studio will be headed by worldwide video heads Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht.

The Apple TV+ streaming service is due to launch Nov. 1 at a price of $4.99 per month. However, you can get a free year’s subscription with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.
