Apple pulls Private Photos (Calculator%) app from the App Store

Apple has removed Private Photos (Calculator%) from the the App Store, notes Business Insider. It’s an app that poses as a calculator and allows users to hide secret photos and videos.

According to Business Insider, the Calculator% app is popular with teenagers, but has been criticized by child welfare experts and is part of an investigation by British police. It first gained attention in 2015 when US district attorney Pamela Casey’s warning to parents about the app’s true purpose went viral on Facebook. Last week, a British police unit confirmed that the app formed part of an undisclosed investigation.
