Apple products are now ‘co-starring’ on some TV shows

When it comes to placing products in TV shows, Apple’s tactic is changing from relying on surprising cameos to taking credited roles, notes Variety.

For years, the popular consumer-electronics giant quietly supplied showrunners and their production staffs with plenty of gear. You’ve probably seen Apple products popping up in Ryan Murphy series like “Glee,” “Scream Queens” and “American Horror Story.” However, products such as the iPhone are playing a prominent role in shows such as “9-1-1” which mentions “promotional consideration sponsored by Apple” in the  closing credits.

Neither Apple nor Fox responded to questions from Variety, including whether Apple paid for the promo. “We didn’t have anything to do with it,” a spokeswoman for OMD, the Omnicom Group media-buying agency that purchases ad time for Apple, told the publication.
