Apple plans ‘several’ new retail stores in Japan

According to the Japanese language site, Macotakara — as noted by AppleInsider — Apple plans to open “several” new retail stores in the country, as well as remodel existing locations.

With the opening of five new stores, Apple will  have 506 retail stores in 24 countries and an online store available in 39 countries. For starters, the tech giant will launch a new store in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo on Saturday, April 7. It will be the company’s eighth retail outlet in the country and the first in Japan to sport a “town square” design concept common to most recently opened Apple outlets, Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail.
