Apple has announced that Apple Pay, is mobile payment system to customers in Switzerland, offering initial support for both Visa and Mastercard credit cards, as well as Bonus Card, Cornercard or Swiss Bankers credit and prepaid cards.
However, as noted by AppleInsider, wners might not be able to actually use the service anytime soon, however, as only eight major chains are listed as participating retailers, not including Apple’s own Apple Store. Aldi, Avec, C&A, k kiosk, Mobile Zone, P&B, Spar, and TopCC are accepting Apple Pay transactions at launch, while Lidl plans to integrate the payments solution in the near future.
Apple Pay is now available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, China, and Singapore. Apple has hinted that Spain and Hong Kong are also in line to get Apple Pay at some point this year (Spain currently supports it for Amex only). CEO Tim Cook also recently spoke about plans to bring the mobile payment system to India, while France, Japan and Brazil are also expected to add Apple Pay support in the near future.
