Apple patent filing involves monitoring a user of a Vision Pro

FIG. 2 shows an Apple Vision Pro with user monitoring features.

Apple has filed for a patent (number US 20230297163 A1) for “monitoring a user” of a Vision Pro.

The US$3,499 (and higher) “Spatial Computer” will be available in early 2024. However, it apparently will only be available in limited quantities at first.

In the patent filing Apple notes that a portable electronic device may be provided with one or more sensing components (e.g., one or more touch sensors, sound sensors, etc.) that may be utilized for enabling a user to control a functionality of the electronic device. However, such control often requires the user to interact with the sensing components actively, such as via touch or speech.

Apple wants the Vision Pro to monitor user movements, such as head movements and hand gestures. The headset’s sensors will detect such movements and gestures and respond accordingly.
