Apple online store “closed”, retail outlets setting up stanchions

With less than two hours to go until today’s “hello, again” Mac event, the Apple online store is no longer taking orders, instead showing the standard “we can’t wait for you to see it” banner. Listings for the existing MacBook line are still visible, of course, but the company just doesn’t want you to order a MacBook Pro when there’s something exciting and new coming out today…

In addition, The Mac Observer reports that some Apple retail outlets were setting up the portable stanchions that are used to control lines in front of stores during big product launches. TMO’s Jeff Gamet noted that one Reddit user left a comment after visiting the San Francisco flagship store:

They set up the line dividers while I was there. Not sure if this means there will be a product launch tomorrow. This was shortly after closing. There were lots of contractors milling about, taking laser measurements of the floor and pointing to the huge glass doors. I wonder what they’re up to.

Let us know if you have seen similar preparations going on at the store nearest you; it could be that Apple has more than just a new MacBook Pro to show off today.
