Apple Music artist discographies gain new, clean layout

In a move that’s long overdue, Apple has reorganized artist collections on Apple Music in a format that’s similar to that of its major competitor: Spotify. The new layout is cleaner and more logical than before, and should make it easier for subscribers to browser albums.

Since studio albums are usually the most important contribution by artists, they now have their own section and are shown first. Other separate sections now include singles, EPs, live albums and compilations. For artists who have an extensive discography, there’s even an “Essential Albums” section.

These changes are being made behind the scenes on Apple’s servers and don’t require any changes to iTunes or the iOS Music app as a result. The new layout hasn’t rolled out to everyone yet — so don’t be surprised if discographies still look the same to you.
