Apple Maps gets cycling directions for parts of the U.S. Midwest

As noted by Justin O’Beirne, Apple has added cycling directions for the parts of the Midwest covered in Expansion #6, including Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Charleston.

This includes all of Ohio and West Virginia, as well as parts of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Virginia. Earlier this month—on April 1, 2022—Apple quietly added cycling directions for the parts of the Northeast.

“This all suggests that future expansions of Apple Maps’s cycling feature might start following Apple’s initial map expansions,” O’Beirne says. “(If so, this suggests that Texas and the Gulf Coast are the most likely areas to receive cycling directions next.)”
