Apple is ‘highly likely’ to debut new MacBook Pros with OLED displays in 2026

Apple is "highly likely" to roll out new MacBook Pros sporting OLED displays in 2026, according to a new report from the Omdia research group.

I hope this is true: Apple is “highly likely” to roll out new MacBook Pros sporting OLED displays in 2026, according to a new report from the Omdia research group.

“Apple is highly likely to incorporate OLED into its MacBook Pro models as early as 2026,” says Ricky Park, senior principal analyst in Omedia’s Display Research division. “This move could spark a significant surge in OLED demand within the notebook market, potentially reaching over 60 million units by 2031.”

As I noted in a May 24 op-ed, I love my 16-inch MacBook Pro, but am still waiting for the ultimate (for me) update. No, I’m not talking a foldable laptop as is rumored, but a MacBook Pro with an OLED display, built-in cellular, and a slim Touch Bar with Apple Pencil support.

According to Omdia’s Display long-term demand forecast tracker, demand for OLED displays in mobile computers is projected to grow by 37% compound annual growth rate from 2023 to 2031.
