I’ve said before that I don’t expect to see a foldable iPhone, iPad, or Mac anytime in the near future. A new report backs up my prognosis.
Nikkei Asia says Apple is focusing on bringing OLED displays to its iPad and Mac laptop lineups rather than foldable screens. However, the article says that the tech giant is “considering eventually introducing foldable tablets.”
OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays are already used in most premium smartphones, including iPhones. Apple plans to deploy the tech in its high-end iPads next year, multiple tech industry executives told Nikkei Asia. An OLED MacBook model is also under development for production in the second half of 2025 at the earliest, the people said.
