Apple Daily Report: Tim Cook honors Steve Jobs on the anniversary of Jobs’ death (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has tweeted a memory of his former boss and mentor Steve Jobs, who passed away on October 5, 2011. Today marks the seventh anniversary of the Apple co-founder’s death. He was 56 years old. 



The United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre has backed Apple’s and Amazon’s denials of a Bloomberg Businessweek report that claimed Chinese spies planted tiny chips the size of a pencil tip on motherboards manufactured by Supermicro, which both Apple and Amazon used at one time in data center servers. 

Tim Cook donated $236,100 to the Hillary Victory Fund fundraising committee in 2016, the largest individual contribution by an Apple employee, according to Business Insider. Clinton received a total of $1.8 million from Apple’s workforce; only $6,786 was given to Trump’s 2016 election campaign.

It’s only been about two weeks since it launched and the iOS 12 user base is already at 46% of devices, according to Mixpanel, an analytics company.

Yikes. Apple left Intel processor managing and testing tools unlock for years, according to The Register.

Jodi Balfour (The Crown) has joined the cast of Apple’s upcoming space drama series from Battlestar Galactica‘s and Outlander‘s Ronald D. Moore.
