Apple Daily Report: Steve Jobs is on ‘the most influential tech leaders of our time’ list, more

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

The late Steve Jobs made the “most influential tech leaders of our time” list by the Forbes Technology Council. Also making the list are Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Linus Torvalds, and Evan Spiegel.

CNBC reports that users of cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, speed and other drugs are using smartwatches to monitor their heart-rate. Medical experts say it’s a concerning trend that might give people a false sense of security.

In the next step of its #DreamBigPrincess campaign, started in 2017, Disney is partnering with Apple and women-led production firm Summerjax to teach 21 “aspiring filmmakers” how to make short movies starring women that have inspired them. Each video will be shot on an iPhone X, and edited on a MacBook Pro running Final Cut Pro X. 

Security researchers claim to have discovered a loophole that prevents an iPhone or iPad from activating USB Restricted Mode, Apple’s latest anti-hacking feature in iOS 12 beta and iOS 11.4.1.

As noted by MacRumors, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation this week charged former Apple employee Xiaolang Zhang with theft of trade secrets, according to documents filed with the Northern District Court of California.
