Apple Daily Report: new Apple ads, Drake’s ‘Scorpion,’ more

Now that my Apple World Today compadre, Steve Sande, is transforming his daily news update podcast into Tangible Tech, Yours Truly will offer an end-of-the-day text-and-graphics only update of various Apple news items. Because, hey, Steve and I can’t cover everything!

Apple has published some new ads to its YouTube channel. One highlights the the usefulness of Face ID on the iPhone X to help folks stop worrying about forgetting passwords. Four others — All Your Stuff,” “Organised Notes,” “Paperless Paperwork,” and “Travel Simply” — promote the iPad as a solution for a variety of everyday problems.

Drake’s Scorpion album has set a new streaming record, with 745.9 million streams in the U.S. during its release week. It’s available for sale on iTunes, or can be streamed on Apple Music.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has sent letters to Apple and Google parent company Alphabet to ask 16 multi-part questions about how the companies handle customer data, according to a press release.

A gang of hooded thieves snatched 21 iPhones worth $19,000 from a display in a New York Apple store. Police are offering $5,000 for info that helps catch the criminals.
