Apple Daily Report: Most Americans think social media platforms need to be regulated (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

Americans have rising concerns with social media platforms and a growing majority wants big social media companies regulated, according to a new poll conducted by Survey Monkey for “Axios on HBO.”

Bummer. Apple stock has entered the “bear market” with its stock having fallen more than 20% from its high on Oct.3. A stock, or a market as a whole, is considered to be in bear territory when its price has fallen 20% or more from its highest price in the past 12 months.



Apple has released its 2018 holiday ad, dubbed “Share Your Gifts.” The animated commercial is relatively subtle, promoting creative over a hard sale, though the girl in the video is holing a MacBook.

Benchmarks for the 15-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with the Radeon Pro Vega 20 option have been shared by a MacRumors reader.

Apple, Google, Facebook, and Twitter have urged a D.C. federal court on Friday to toss a suit from a nonprofit alleging the technology giants violated the First Amendment and antitrust statutes by censoring conservative content, arguing the group can’t show it was censored. 

Download.com says the Tumblr app was removed from the Apple App Store due to child pornography that got past the site’s filters.
