Apple Daily Report: iPads with Face ID, Super Mario Run and iOS

Now that my Apple World Today compadre, Steve Sande, is transforming his daily news update podcast into Tangible Tech, Yours Truly will offer an end-of-the-day text-and-graphics only update of various Apple news items. Because, hey, Steve and I can’t cover everything!

The latest iOS 12 beta has a new avatar generation feature intended for the iPad that requires a TrueDepth camera system, which lends credence to rumors that iPads with FaceID are coming sooner rather than later. (I’m predicting September.)

New data from Sensor Tower, an app analytic website, reports that Nintendo’s Super Mario Run has hit $60 million in revenue worldwide, with the overwhelming majority coming from iOS.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, British Member of Parliament, appeared to be interrupted by Siri on his iPhone as he addressed MPs in the Commons about Syria. He apologized, saying, “It is very rare that you’re heckled by your own mobile phone.”

Apple has released its third developer betas of macOS Mojave, iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12. Registered developers can download them via Apple’s developer portal. Or they can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
