Apple Daily Report for June 3, 2016

The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, takes a road trip. In its place, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

Apple is inviting staff to vote for one of 20 different ‘“community themes, a list of worthy projects ranging from using technology to boost environmental sustainability to empowering the elderly. One of the projects is geared to making Apple products more available to those who would not normally be able to afford them.

Well, maybe the “King of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan isn’t becoming the brand ambassador for Apple in India. According to news agency ANI, quoting inside sources, the speculations about the actor becoming the new brand ambassador for the Cupertino giant in India are false.

Broadcom, a supplier of connectivity chips used in the iPhone, forecast more than 20% sequential growth in its wireless division this quarter as a major customer gets ready to introduce a new phone.

Ahead of its Worldwide Developers Conference, set to kick off on June 13, Apple has updated its official WWDC app with a new look and a new version that works on the fourth-generation Apple TV. The update also adds support for live streaming on iOS and tvOS and adds multitasking support on compatible iPads.
