The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, deals with some family issues. In its place, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

Apple has activated public transit directions in Apple Maps for users in Tampa, Florida, granting access to timetables and routes covering local bus, train, and streetcar operations.

iOS 11 is now installed on 59% of iOS devices, according to new statistics on Apple’s App Store support page for developers. That’s up from 52% on Nov. 6.

Two local residents have applied to the Supreme Court to bring an appeal over the High Court’s rejection of their challenge to permission for tech giant Apple to develop the first phase of a planned €850million data centre in Athenry, Co Galway, Ireland.

Australia’s largest ever clinical trial into the effectiveness of mental health apps has received £1.2 million in funding for the study. The team of researchers involved in the trial are from UNSW Sydney, Deakin University, Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of South Australia, Macquarie University and The Black Dog Institute.

Research by PC Magazine suggests there are three main reasons for Android users to seriously consider moving to iPhone.
