Apple Daily Report for August 23, 2017

The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, is on a road trip. In its place, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

A document published on August 18 details what versions of Apple’s pro apps will work in the upcoming macOS High Sierra.

Apple has released Safari Technology Preview 38 (Safari TP38) on Wednesday. It tests out Payment Requests for Web Payments, and adds support for phonetic names in Apple Pay.

Two new episodes of Carpool Karaoke: The Series air tonight, Apple has shared trailers for next week’s episodes, which will pair Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith and Miley Cyrus and her family.

Hulu plans to simplify its streaming video offerings on iOS by incorporating its Hulu with Live TV app into the main app, combining the two separate services into one single app and phasing out its live-streaming app entirely.

Virgin Mobile USA has announced that customers who bring their existing iPhone, and transfer their phone number from another carrier, will receive one year of unlimited talk, text, and data for just $1 with AutoPay enabled. The limited time promotion is available until August 31, 2017.
