Apple Daily Report: CarPlay drives onto select Mazda vehicles (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

Mazda has announced that Apple’s CarPlay is now available as part of a dealer-installed upgrade in select 2014 model year and newer Mazda vehicles equipped with the Mazda Connect infotainment system in the U.S.

Apple supplier Foxconn plans to to cut 20 billion yuan ($2.9 billion) from expenses in 2019 as it faces “a very difficult and competitive year,” according to an internal company memo obtained by Bloomberg.



In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — analyst Jun Zhang from Rosenblatt Securities claims that sales of the iPhone Xr picked up in China during the country’s recent “Singles Day” retail event, but wasn’t enough to stop iPhone production estimate costs.

Singapore Airlines is levering the iPad to make the the “pilot duty process” easier for its frequent flyers, according to CNET. The airline started looking into this back in 2015, before rolling out iPads loaded with two essential custom apps, FlyNow and Roster.
