Apple Daily Report: Apple closes its enrollment to its heart study program (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Apple is no longer accepting new applicants to participate in its Apple Heart Study, a medical research program that aggregates heart rate data gathered from Apple Watch devices to determine whether the wearable can identify irregular heart rhythms.

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company’s $1 trillion market capitalization was “not the most important measure” of the company’s success but was instead a result of its focus on its products, customers and company values.

Apple’s upcoming 2018 iPad Pro models may feature a display with rounded corners like the iPhone X according to an image asset for the new devices found by 9to5Mac in the most recent beta update.



Chuck La Tournous, founder of RandomMaccess, says that his Apple Watch played a key role in identifying that he had multiple blood clots, and is now helping him beat diabetes. In an article for MacWorld, he described what happened the first time around.

Rumors have suggested Apple is planning to introduce dual-SIM dual standby functionality in some 2018 iPhone models, which would allow two SIM cards to be used at once. However, this functionality may be limited to China.
