Apple comes in fourth on the 2018 Fortune 500 rankings

Apple has fallen one place in the Fortune 500 rankings, based on company revenues, dropping from third place to fourth. Still, the tech giant remains the most valuable and profitable company on the list with $850 billion in market cap and $48 billion in profits.

In fact, the four most valuable companies on the list are all technology firms—Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway was fifth; Facebook was sixth.

However, based on revenues alone, the top 10 on the Fortune 500 list are: Walmart ($500 million), Exxon Mobile ($244 million), Berkshire Hathaway ($242 million), Apple ($229 million), UnitedHealth Group ($201 million), McKesson ($199 million), CVS Health ($185 million), Amazon ($178 million), AT&T ($161 million), and General Motors ($157 million).

Companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years. Included in the survey are companies that are incorporated in the U.S. and operate in the U.S. and file financial statements with a government agency.
