Apple CEO Tim Cook to speak at United Nations’ Climate Ambition Summit

Apple CEO Tim Cook will to deliver remarks at the United Nations’ Climate Ambition Summit on Dec. 12, reports Reuters.

The summit is being held on the fifth anniversary of the international Paris climate agreement and ahead of U.N. talks next year in Glasgow, Scotland. The Paris agreement is designed to limit a rise in global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius, which scientists say could stave off the worst effects of climate change.

In July Apple unveiled its plan to become carbon neutral across its entire business, manufacturing supply chain, and product life cycle by 2030. The company is already carbon neutral today for its global corporate operations, and this new commitment means that by 2030, every Apple device sold will have net zero climate impact.
