Apple has canceled its contract with Project Maven, a Pentagon project to use artificial intelligence to analyze military drone photos, (according to The Information (a subscription is required to read the entire article).
Project Maven is an effort by the U.S. Department of Defense to use artificial lintelligence (AI) software to analyze imagery captured by military drones. Apple recently acquired a company called Xnor.ai for $200 million and decided to terminate its work on/with the project.
Xnor.ai a Seattle startup specializing in low-power, edge-based AI tools. Its AI-enabled image recognition tools could become standard features in future iPhones and webcams, according to GeekWire.
