Apple has scooped up Spectral Edge, a UK-based startup with tech that improves photos taken on smartphones, according to Bloomberg. The goal, obviously, is to make the already-impressive iPhone cameras even better.

The Bloomberg report doesn’t say what Apple paid for Spectral Edge. The start-up uses machine learning to blend an infrared shot with a standard photo to improve clarity and the accuracy of colors. The technique combines patented Image Fusion tech with Deep Learning.
