Analyst: the ‘iPhone X’ will be in ‘severe short supply’ for a while

KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple’s premium iPhone model — likely to be dubbed the “iPhone X” — to have “severe short supply for a while.”

He tells clients that suppliers can only build about 10,000 units per day of the high-end smartphone. His report echoes rumors about supply issues related to the model’s OLED panels, Apple’s over-dependence on Samsung for those supplies, and difficulties integrating fingerprint sensors into the panels.

The iPhone X is expected to debut at Apple’s special media event tomorrow, along with several other product updates.
