Analyst: Apple to ship 100 million 6.1-inch LCD iPhones this year

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will ship 100 million iPhones in the second half of 2018.

He thinks the built of those as coming from a new 6.1-inch, LCD smartphone that will be priced between $699 and $799. The analyst is unsure if this model will replace both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, though he thinks it’s possible. However, since it will have an LCD screen, it will be less expensive than the OLED iPhone X.

Kuo thinks Apple will introduce at least three new smartphones this year, all of which will sport Face ID and ditch the home button. In addition to a successor to the iPhone X and the LCD model, Apple is also purportedly planning an iPhone X variant with a 6.5-inch OLED display.
