A few things and an apology

OK, a few things.

Since our birth on February 9, 2015, our site has caused trouble for those visiting with an iPhone 6. Specifically, mobile Safari on those devices goes into an infinite reload loop, causing frustration for readers and us.

We’ve been working with Squarespace on the issue for weeks. For now, I’m sorry to say, we still don’t have a solution. We’ve made several changes to no avail. Right now, our best guess is that the issue is unique to mobile Safari on the iPhone 6, as no other iOS devices are affected. It’s an ongoing frustration, and we apologize.

Speaking of frustration, it got the better of us this afternoon and we published a regrettable call for a pro-bono app that would allow iPhone 6 owners to view the site without Safari. That was a mistake, and we apologize.

As tech writers, gadget junkies and iOS fans, we have the utmost admiration and respect for the talented men and women who make the apps we love. We also understand that everyone should get paid for their hard work. Again, we regret suggesting otherwise.

In the meantime, please understand that we’re trying our darnedest to get the issue with the iPhone 6 worked out. I know it’s a pain. You can help by sending us as much detail as you can when you experience the issue.

Finally, we regret the post we published earlier. We won’t do that to you folks again.
