Apple launches Apple Security Research website

Apple has launched Apple Security Research, a site “designed to make it easier than ever for researchers to submit reports on the web, get real-time updates from Apple engineering, and earn recognition for helping to improve security for our users.”

The site also offers updates on “Apple Security Bounty,” which recognizes the rewards the security community for sharing research with Apple to help protect users. In the past two and a half years since opening the program, Apple says it’s awarded researchers nearly US$20 million in total payments, with an average payout of $40,000 in the Product category, and including 20 separate rewards over $100,000 for high-impact issues.

Starting today through November 30, Apple is also accepting applications for the 2023 Apple Security Research Device Program. This program features an iPhone “exclusively dedicated to security research, and can help you get started, go deeper, or improve the efficiency of your research work with iOS.”
