Apple TV+ saw a -12% change in global market share from June to September, which was the most of the (relatively) new streaming service, according to JustWatch.
Although this was less than speculated as a result of the free trial period ending, HBO Max gained 2.7% in the same time, which can likely be attributed to launching in Latin America, says JustWatch.
Still, while Apple TV+ still lags far behind the much bigger streaming services from Netflix, Amazon and Walt Disney, its subscriber numbers are “respectable,” according to The Information. Analysts previously estimated that the service had around 40 million subscribers at the end of last year and that number is still roughly accurate, the article adds.
JustWatch is an international streaming guide that “helps over 20 million users per month across 52 countries to find something great to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, etc.”
