How to hide system preference panes in macOS

Sometimes you may need to hide the Systems Preferences in macOS to prevent unwanted changes. Here’s how:

Go to the Apple Menu and choose System Preferences.

Under the View Menu, click Customize.

Checkmarks will appear on all the System Preferences items/panes.

Deselect a pane and click Done.

If you later decide, you want to “un-hide’” a pane, just reverse the process.

(This how-to is based on my experiences and info on Apple’s support pages — where the images sometimes come from.)
