New rumors about the iPhone 12, upcoming iPads (updated)

In notes to clients — as noted by MacRumors — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offers some new forecasts on the upcoming “iPhone 12” and iPad updates.

Regarding the former, he says that Apple won’t include earbuds or a charger in the box, but will sell a 20W power adapter separately. He adds that the adapter will replace currently 5W and 18W power adapters, which will be discontinued.

Kuo says that ditching earbuds and a power adapter will allow Apple to keep the pricing of the iPhone 12 line-up comparable to those of the iPhone 11 line-up despite the addition of 5G support, which adds more to production costs.

When it comes to future iPads, the analyst thinks Apple will launch a new 10.8-inch iPad in the second half of 2020, followed by a new 8.5-inch iPad in the first half of 2021. However, the tablet updates will include a 20W power adapter in the box, he adds. Which suggests that — no surprise — they won’t get 5G capabilities.

But back to the iPhone 12. According to YouTube channel EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach, the “iPhone 12 Pro” and “iPhone 12 Pro Max” will have video modes capable of shooting 4K video at 120fps and 240fps, respectively.
