Apple today announced the schedule for the 2020 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), which will be held virtually starting on June 22, 2020. The event is open to all registered Apple developers, and is billed as the “biggest WWDC to date” since all developers can attend without needing to apply for a lottery or spend money on travel.
As usual, the event kicks off with a keynote event scheduled for Monday, June 22 at 10 AM PDT, streamed from Apple Park. The keynote will be viewable by anyone on Apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple Developer website, Apple TV and YouTube.
The keynote is quickly followed by a “Platforms State of the Union”, providing developers with details of the upcoming updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. The Platforms State of the Union stream will be available on the Apple Developer app and website, beginning at 2PM PDT on June 22.
More than a hundred technical and design-focused engineering sessions are planned from June 23 to June 26, with new videos posted every day at 10 AM PDT on both the Apple Developer app and Developer website.
Apple will unveil all new Developer Forums on June 18, connecting the developer community with over a thousand Apple engineers who can answer questions and engage in technical discussions. Starting on the first day of WWDC, anyone will be able to view and search the forum discussions, and members of the Apple Developer Program can post questions.
The company is hosting one-on-one developer labs between June 23 and 26, where developers can request an appointment with an Apple engineer for guidance and details on how to implement new features. Students who entered the Swift Student Challenge this year will find out who the finalists are on June 16.
The Apple Developer app is the primary source of communications for this year’s event, and the company recommends that all developers download it as soon as possible.
