News round-up: iPhone in combat, Apple Watch tidbit, more

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up news items you should check out.

Coalition and Afghan forces under intense enemy rocket and mortar fire, and unable to use their military-issued equipment, reportedly utilized their iPhones and an app called Tactical NAV during a nighttime raid to capture enemy insurgents targeting military personnel.

Apple is reportedly developing at least two new features focused on health that will expand Apple Watch capabilities in the future. Apple Watch will add the ability to detect blood oxygen levels for the first time, 9to5Mac says it’s has learned based on an exclusive look at iOS 14 code snippets.

9to5 also says that the Apple Watch Series 6 and watchOS 7 will include an “Infograph Pro” with techymeter, Schooltime, kids’ mode, sleep tracking, and more.

Finally, according to code seen by 9to5Mac, Apple is set to roll out rich system-wide support for mouse cursors in iPadOS 14 along with new Smart Keyboards with built-in trackpads.

German blog WinFuture.de has served up what it claims are “official” marketing photos of the rumored Powerbeats4 earphones, which will apparently be offered in white, black, and red color options.
