Analyst: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro sales off to a strong start

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that, despite predictions otherwise, sales of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are off to a strong start in the U.S. and China.

Based on his search of the first 72 hours of sales, he thinks Apple will sell 75 million smartphones this year. Kuo believes that the U.S. market is purchasing more of the iPhone 11 Pro than the iPhone 11, though sales of the latter are still strong. He feels that demand for the iPhone 11 is stronger in China than in the US, though. In that region, Kuo is seeing the iPhone 11 as an “excellent upgrade choice” for the many iPhone 6 through iPhone 7 users.

The new smartphones debuted at Apple’s Sept. 10 “By Innovation Only” event. Pre-orders started Friday, Sept. 13; the first models are expected to be in users’ hands this Friday, Sept. 20.
