Omer Ismail, who leads Goldman Sachs’s Marcus division, said the online bank is using the unique customer-first features of the upcoming Apple Card to gain a toehold in a new market. Coming this summer, Apple’s credit card will be built into the Apple Wallet app on the iPhone, allowing customers to manage their card right on the smartphone. Apple is partnering with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to provide the support of an issuing bank and global payments network.
On a related note, Dutch bank ING has introduced support for Apple Pay in the Netherlands.
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), which “sustains and integrates open source technologies like Kubernetes and Prometheus, has announced that Apple has joined as a Platinum End User Member. As part of Apple’s Platinum membership, Tom Doron, Senior Engineering Manager at Apple has joined CNCF’s Governing Board.
Democratic Senator and U.S. Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren is urging the chief of the Justice Department’s antitrust division to recuse himself from investigations into Apple and Google, noting that he has lobbied for both corporations in the past.
According to Bloomberg, Young Liu, semiconductor division chief at Apple supplier, Foxconn, says all of Apple’s U.S. iPhones can be made outside of China if necessary.
Apple has posted four new developer betas: the fourth one of iOS 12.4, the third one of tvOS 12.4, the third one of watchOS 5.3, and the second one of macOS 10.14.6. Registered developers can download the betas via Apple’s developer portal. Or they can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
Apple has rolled out a new iCloud for Windows app designed for PCs, according to a blog post shared by Microsoft. The new app is designed to allow Apple users to access their iCloud content on their Windows 10 PCs.
