Notable apps and updates, April 29-May 4

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS

Cisdem has updated AppCrypt for Mac, an app that gives users the ability to password protect their apps, to version 4.1.0

It can password protect iPhoto, iTunes, Contacts, Facebook or any other applications on your Mac. To use it, you set a password and add the apps to the lock list. No one can access the protected apps unless they have the correct password. Version 4.1.0 adds support for more apps.

AppCrypt is available now at the Cisdem website. It works with macOS 10.10 or higher. A single license of AppCrypt costs $29.99. A license for two Macs costs $44.99 and one for five is $39.99. A demo is available for download.

iOS

Feral Interactive says Tropico, the strategic city builder and humorous dictator sim set on a Caribbean island, is out now on iPhone. The iPad version, released in December 2018, has also been updated today with numerous improvements.

The game was originally published by Kalypso for Windows PC and brought to iOS by Feral Interactive. Tropico for iPhone and iPad is available now from the App Store for $11.99.

Handcade has Polydust 1.0, a 3D modeling app for the iPad. It gives users full control of their model mesh, allowing them to work in vertex, edge, poly and object model. Users can create basic shapes such as cubes, arcs, cylinders and toruses that can act as the base of their 3D models. Polydust is free, but does promote in-app purchases.
