JCPenney drops support for Apple Pay

JCPenney has dropped support for Apple Pay from its retail stores, according to MacRumors. The withdrawal of support for Apple’s digital payment system was confirmed on Saturday by the company’s customer service Twitter account in response to a query.

No reason has been given for the move. JCPenney is an American department store chain with 864 locations in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The company has struggled in recent years. The retail chain plans to close three stores by the spring as part of an ongoing evaluation of its performance.

If my count is correct, Apple Pay is available in 25 countries, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, KazakhstanItaly, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, the U.S., Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland, and the United Arab Emirates.
