Apple hires former exec from Samsung SDI to lead its battery development

Apple has hired Soonho Ahn, a former executive from Samsung SDI, the battery production unit of Samsung Electronics, to help lead its own battery work, reports Bloomberg.

Soonho Ahn joined Apple in December as global head of battery developments, after working as a senior vice president at Samsung SDI since 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has also worked at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, LG Chem, and the Auburn University Space Power Institute.



Ahn has degrees from Seoul National University, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and Auburn University, where he received a Ph.D in chemical engineering.
