Apple really dropped the ball with the AirPower charging pad. After touting the wireless charging pad that could charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time, they apparently ran into technical issues that made the device a 2018 no-show. Well, if you’re tired of waiting for Apple to get its act together, you can always check out Nomad’s new Base Station Hub Edition ($99.95), which will be shipping on October 1.
Frankly, I think the Base Station Hub Edition even looks better than Apple’s plain white slab. This design features a padded leather wireless charging surface, and has a built-in ambient light sensor that dims the charging status LEDs at night.
The Base Station has three high-power charging coils, so it can charge two phones wirelessly at the same time. It’s also able to charge your Apple Watch or AirPods through a built-in 7.5W USB-A port, and you can even use it to charge your MacBook Pro or MacBook through an 18W USB-C PD port.
