In its fiscal 2018 third quarter that ended June 30, Mac sales fell to 3.72 million units from 4.29 million units in the year-ago quarter. That’s not too surprising as there were no refreshes in the line-up.
Apple didn’t refresh the MacBook Pro until 12 days after the quarter ended. Despite this, Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri says that 60% of customer purchases came from customers new to the platform and that Macs saw new sales records in several countries during the third quarter.
Sales should pick up during the fourth quarter. The new MacBook Pro should boost sales. New MacBooks and iMacs are almost certain to arrive. And perhaps even a new Mac mini.
