Here are some random observations and questions following yesterday’s Apple Worldwide Developer keynote:
It was great to see so many females helping with the presentations. I’m sure this was deliberate on Apple’s part, and good for them.
The Apple developer community is obviously VERY healthy. There are over 20 million Apple developers around the world. The App Store sees over 500 visitors per week. This week the money developers earned through the store will top $100 billion, according to CEO Tim Cook.
Apple’s Swift programming language continues to gain momentum. Over 350,000 apps on the App Store have been written in Swift.
With tvOS adding Dolby Atmos support, it’s a shame that the HomePod doesn’t support the format. Of course, the HomePod isn’t truly designed as a home theater device, but still….
There was no mention of AirPlay 2 being rolled into macOS Mojave, which is disappointing. You can stream to multiple speakers from a Mac using iTunes, but I support for a stereo pair of HomePods to use with my Mac.
Apple has shared the hardware requirements for the latest operating system for its wearables — and first generation Apple Watches didn’t make the cut.
Guess there was something to those “Project Marzipan” rumors after all.
