Scrub out that unwanted audio noise with SoundSoap 5.0 for macOS

Soundness’ SoundSoap 5.0, the latest major version of the audio noise reduction software for macOS and Windows, introduced new technology that finds and removes background noises automatically by analyzing the media file. Unfortunately, files with more than one stereo or mono audio track still aren’t supported. Supported file types for opening are determined by Apple’s AV Foundation framework.

Other improvements included a graphical learn noise mode, better hum removal, improved media playback controls, FLAC and MP3 file support, high-resolution audio meters, and full bypass and reset commands. SoundSoap is a tool that solves audio noise problems like unwanted hiss and background noises, clicks, pops, crackles, electrical hum, rumble, clipping, and low volume in media files.

SoundSoap is useful for creating audio for their video and audio projects. Average joes like me can use it to fix audio noise problems. It’s ideal anyone creating videos, screencasts, podcasts, LP restoration, music, or dialogue. SoundSoap works as a full-featured standalone application or as an audio software plug-in for use in popular applications like Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools, Logic X, GarageBand, Sonar, Adobe Audition, and Digital Performer.

SoundSoap 5 added FLAC and MP3 to its list of supported media file types. Improvements to the SoundSoap digital signal processing algorithms provide better removal of ground loops and other electrical noise problems in media files. The new version also added high-resolution audio meters, a full bypass mode for before/after comparisons, and a parameter reset command.

SoundSoap 5 works as a standalone application and as Audio Unit, VST, and AAX audio plug-ins. The SoundSoap 5 plug-ins require Mac OS 10.6 or later, and the standalone version requires Mac OS 10.9 or later. The Windows version of SoundSoap 5 works on Windows 7, 8, and 10, and includes the standalone application as well as VST and AAX plug-ins. The standalone version of SoundSoap 5 reads all major audio and video file formats, including QuickTime, H.264, CAF, MP4, MP3, FLAC, WAV and AIFF.

SoundSoap 5 includes the standalone application and plug-in versions, and costs $249. It can be purchased and downloaded directly from the Soundness website
