This is Steve Sande for Apple World Today, and you’re listening to the AWT News Update podcast for Friday, November 24th, 2017. We hope you’re coming down from your tryptophan-induced sleepiness and have done some Black Friday shopping in the Apple World Today Deals Shop. Anything you buy today is automatically 20% off with the coupon code BFRIDAY20.
As of today, the iPhone X is available in 71 countries worldwide. 14 new markets were added to the list today – Albania, Bosnia, Cambodia, Israel, Kosovo, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Montenegro, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand and Turkey.
Apple’s annual Black Friday shopping event went live in the US early this morning, with holiday gift buyers getting gift cards as an incentive to buy. If you purchase an iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, you get a $150 gift card with your purchase. Buy a 12.9-inch or 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and you’ll get a $100 card, while the 9.7-inch iPad and 7.9-inch iPad mini 4 get you a $50 gift card. Get an iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s or 6s Plus, and you get a $50 card, while the purchase of an iPhone SE or Apple Watch Series 1 is going to get you only a $25 card. No gift cards are available with the purchase of the really hot Apple items — the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and Apple Watch Series 3.
Apple’s first redesigned retail store in Australia opened today, with the new Chadstone store in Melbourne replacing the older store that first opened back in 2008. The new store is triple the size of the original, with 4.2-meter wide glass and bronze pivot doors making the front of the store essentially wide open and with a huge grid skylight 7.6 meters above the store floor providing natural light for a grove of ficus trees.
That’s all for today; I’ll be back Monday afternoon with another edition of the AWT News Update.
