When it comes to protecting your iPhone with a minimum of bulk and weight, there’s probably nothing better than the cases from totallee. While these cases won’t keep your iPhone protected from a 40-foot fall onto sharp rocks, they’re perfect for day-to-day use, keeping the phone’s surface from scratches and nicks. Now the company has released a jet red version of the iPhone case for just $25, and buying one does more than just protect your phone — 10% of proceeds from sales of this case go to the United Nations Foundation and the global fight against HIV and AIDS.
Design
You may have been lusting after one of the PRODUCT(RED) iPhones that Apple is selling, but aren’t eligible for a new phone yet. This is a wonderful way to get that same jet red color on your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus for $25.
The case itself is amazingly light and thin. It’s made of durable polypropylene, only 0.02 inches (.51mm) thick and weighs just .1 ounce (2.83gm). It’s one of the more precisely-made cases’s I’ve seen, and truly fits like a second skin on the iPhone.
Function
Installing and removing the totallee case is quite simple. It snaps right onto your iPhone and honestly looks like part of the phone when it’s installed.
As for protection, there’s no “lip” that protects your screen against face-down drops. On the other hand, for another $15 totallee will sell you a screen protector for that purpose, and together they should offer a high level of protection with a minimum of weight. The total cost of $40 is still a bargain compared to buying a PRODUCT(RED) iPhone…which you’ll still need to get a protective case for!
Conclusion
Lightweight and thin? Check. Inexpensive? Check. Good-looking? Check. Money for a good cause? Check. Solid protection against drops? Maybe not so much, but it will protect against scrapes and scratches.
