Apparently, we’re not using our iPhones and Siri to their full capability. Parks Associates has announced new Internet of Things (IoT) research examining the market for smart home devices and services. The research group finds that only Only 10% of users use their personal assistant device or app to control smart home devices.
“The groundwork for the consumer IoT – networked products that are connected to the Internet and have an accompanying virtual object in the cloud – is in place,” says Brad Russell, research analyst, Parks Associates. “Ubiquitous high-speed connectivity, mass smartphone ownership, and cloud services have enabled incredible innovation in consumer products and services and disrupted traditional marketplaces. Companies now need to identify and deploy the best strategies and innovations to engage consumers in the IoT.”
Parks Associates estimates that there are approximately 1.5 million Wi-Fi-first mobile service subscribers in the U.S.
