MacSales.com has OWC memory upgrade kits with up to 64GB for the new 27-inch iMac

There’s been some confusion over whether or not the new 27-inch iMac will support user upgrades of RAM, with Apple reps giving us conflicting answers. So we went to the source of RAM upgrades for a lot of users, MacSales.com, and got the definitive word — they’ll be selling OWC memory upgrade kits up to 64GB for the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display.

Not only can you get the upgrades from MacSales.com to install yourself, but they’ve calculated that you can save a lot of money doing so. If you’re upgrading up to 32GB, the OWC memory upgrade can save you $320 over having Apple do a build-to-order 32GB configuration. Those who want to upgrade up to the maximum of 64GB of RAM will save $820 over Apple’s pricing. In addition, those existing memory modules can be traded in to MacSales.com for further savings.

The upgrades are a piece of cake to accomplish. Like with the former (late 2015) 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display, there’s a push button located above the power input. When pushed, a memory access panel pops out making it simple to swap out or add memory modules. MacSales.com has free installation videos available that show just how easy it is to do your own iMac memory upgrades.

The memory upgrades run from $79.99 to bring a factory 8GB iMac to 16GB, up to $579.99 to max out an iMac to 64GB.
