Personally, I’m not expecting new iPhones until September, but DigiTimes Research says the next gen smartphones will enter production early. Quoting unnamed “industry sources,” the article says Apple has requested its chip and component suppliers start trial production, inspection and prepare inventories for the new iPhone series sooner than usual.
Deliveries of chips and parts for the new models are expected to kick off in the second half of first-quarter 2017, the article adds. The upcoming smartphone will probably be dubbed the “iPhone 8,” but some pundits believe it will be called the
“iPhone X” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the device.
