Apple hired former Steve Savoca, Spotify’s former vice president of Content, last month, an Apple spokesperson told Business Insider. His title at the Cupertino, California-based company is Label Relations.
At Spotify, he served as the global head of label relations, according to a Billboard report from last summer when he left the Swedish streaming giant after five years.
He’ll be doing the same thing for Apple that he did for Spotify — heading up label relations based out of New York, focusing on relationships with smaller, independent labels, especially internationally, according to Business Insider.
Savoca has worked in the music industry for over 15 years; before Spotify, he was global head of Digital for Domino Recording Co. At Domino, he secured licenses for the label’s renowned catalogue with leaders and innovators in the digital market, including Spotify. He has a BBA in International Marketing at Pace University, where he attended from 1987-1990.
