Apple has started sales of factory unlocked SIM-free iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets. This allows you to buy the smartphones without a carrier and activate with the carrier of your choice later.
You’ll have to buy SIM-free versions at full price. The iPhone 7 starts at $649, and the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769. SIM-free versions of the iPhone 7 Plus in all capacities list shipping estimates of three to four weeks — except the jet black SIM-free iPhone 7 Plus. For that you’ll have to wait six to eight weeks.
For the iPhone 7, SIM-free models in silver, gold, rose gold, and black have delivery estimates of October 17 to 19. Jet black models ship in three to five weeks.
